Results-Based Pricing
Your pricing should reflect results, not time.
This pricing shift took my average service from $85 to $285 without changing a single thing about the actual work I do. The only thing that changed was how I positioned and priced the value.
For years, I priced like most beauty professionals: I calculated my time, added material costs, included a small profit margin, and hoped it would work. I was trapped in the time-for-money exchange that caps your income at how many hours you can physically work.
The breakthrough came when I stopped thinking like a service provider and started thinking like a problem solver.
Instead of pricing "2 hours of makeup application," I started pricing "looking confident and polished for your most important presentation."
Here's the results-based pricing framework that transformed my business:
Step 1: Identify the Real Problem
My clients weren't paying for makeup application. They were paying to avoid looking tired, unprepared, or less professional than their peers in important situations.
Step 2: Quantify the Value
What's it worth to look confident during a job interview for a $120K position? What's it worth to feel polished during a client presentation that could land a $50K contract?
Step 3: Price the Outcome, Not the Process
My "Executive Presence Intensive" costs $285 because it solves a high-value problem. The fact that it takes me 90 minutes is irrelevant to the client.
Step 4: Package the Experience
I don't sell "makeup." I sell transformation packages that include consultation, application, photos for confidence documentation, product recommendations, and touch-up guidelines.
The mindset shift that changed everything:
Before: "I hope they think $85 is fair for 2 hours of work."
After: "This $285 investment ensures you look polished and confident when $50K deals are on the line."
Real examples from my pricing restructure:
Bridal makeup: From $125 (time-based) to $485 (stress-free wedding day confidence package)
Business headshots: From $95 (hourly rate) to $325 (executive presence photo package)
Special events: From $110 (time + travel) to $385 (show-stopping confidence transformation)
Your results-based pricing audit:
List your current services and prices
Identify the real problem each service solves
Research what that problem costs your clients (lost opportunities, stress, time, etc.)
Repackage your services as solution-focused offerings
Test new pricing with your next five prospects
When you price results instead of time, three things happen:
Your income potential becomes unlimited
Price objections decrease because the value is clear
You attract higher-quality clients who understand value
Stop selling time. Start selling transformation.
